引导让步状语从句的连词有:
1. Although/though(尽管,虽然),even though/even if(即使)
Although与though两者意思相同,一般可互换,都可以与yet, still或nevertheless连用,但不能和but连用。
There is no such thing as a convincing [令人信服的] argument, although every man thinks he has one.
根本就没有什么令人信服的论证,虽然每个人都认为自己可以。
注:每个人都觉得自己不会被别人说服,但自己可以说服别人。
It has been said that although God cannot alter the past, historians[历史学家] can.

2. As引导让步状语从句倒装
As从句一般放在主句之前,须用倒装语序。从句中的表语、状语或动词原形置于句首。若表语是名词,前置时要省略冠词。
Much as he is opposed to lawbreaking, he is not bigoted[固执的] about it.
尽管他十分反对干违法的事,但并不一根筋。
注:有一些政府官员也想遵纪守法,但有人稍微一诱惑,他们就改变了主意。
Child as he is, he knows a lot.
Try as he might, he could not find a job.
注意:though引导的从句也可象as引导的从句一样用倒装语序,但是although引导的从句只能用正常语序。注意比较下面的说法:
Smart though/as she is, she doesn't study hard.
Though she is smart, she doesn't study hard.
Although she is smart, she doesn't study hard.
不能说:
Smart although she is, she doesn't study hard.
As she is smart, she doesn't study hard.
3.Whether….or….(不管…..还是….);疑问词 + ever与no matter + 疑问词(不管…..;无论….)。
What number has nothing left if you take a half from it?
The number is 8, because only 0 is left whether you take away the top half or the bottom half.
哪个数如果你拿走一半什么也剩不下?
数字8,因为不管你拿走上半部分还是下半部分只剩下0。
A man bitten by a dog, no matter whether the animal is mad or not, is apt to get mad himself.
被狗咬了,不管是不是疯狗,人很容易疯。
注:“他不想被狗咬,可是被狗咬了,所以他疯了”这样的推理是否合乎逻辑?
场景再现:你每天给老板端茶倒水,老板还不满意,你抱怨说:

No matter how hard you try, you can''t fall off the floor!

注:有些事情努力也做不到。

注:表明他不想听长篇大论的建议。
Whatever bad things people say about Him, our poor old God is unable to defend Himself.
不管人们说上帝什么坏话,我们可怜年迈的上帝都不能为自己辩护。
注:幽默思维就是从不同的角度看问题,信仰上帝的人认为上帝是万能的,这里却认为上帝可怜年迈。
注意:whoever, whatever, whomever, whichever还可以引导名词性从句。
